Dana Loesch makes a fool out of herself on Larry King Live and AC360

Well, STL's favorite Teabagger, Dana Loesch, was on CNN last night. She was repeating her usual screed.

On Larry King Live, Al Sharpton owns Loesch and Alveda King.

Al Sharpton knew that Glenn Beck was a man who was bastardizing MLK's legacy by doing his "I Have A Scheme" speech.

Alveda King was at the 1963 "I Have A Dream" speech.

Dana did agree with Alveda. I heard that she used her false screeds that

Later, we had Stephanie Miller (who I agreed with) and Dennis Prager:

On Anderson Cooper 360, Matt Taibbi schooled Dana Loesch on her rhetoric.

Taibbi schools Loesch on that her views are going to alienate more Republicans.

Loesch falsely claimed that the "Liberal Mainstream Media" is trying to downplay Black Conservatives. She accused Taibbi of name-calling, when she's doing it also talking over other guests.

Hoft absurdly accuses civil rights leader Al Sharpton of giving a "Nazi salute" at his "Reclaim the Dream" rally

In an August 30 Gateway Pundit post titled "Heil Al!... Sharpton Gives Nazi Salute at Rally?" Jim Hoft wrote:

Al Sharpton held his counter-freedom rally on Saturday at Dunbar High School in Washington DC.
During his speech, Al started chanting "No justice, no peace" and gave the Nazi salute.

Of course, the media ignored this.

Hoft included the following image as evidence:

Hoft Sharpton still shot

Hoft has had a history of race-baiting.

Lux_Seeker smears me, praises Dana Loesch

Looks like Lux_Seeker, a Dana-loving troll, wrote about me in his Lux Politics blog.

I want to be up front about a series of tweets I sent to a, well, how should I put this, this, less than informed young Obama supporter Mr. Gibson. I have found that over the years, having some educational background in philosophy has been very helpful because it helps me to see where ideas come from. I have watched with almost disbelief lately at how political discussions have been either mud slinging sessions or "talking points" slinging sessions. Politics has is no longer about reasoned discussion about the validity of ideas and their effectiveness in government and the private sectors but rather an angry exchange of the same old talking points expressed again and again.
Lux: Strike 1: While I am an Obama and a Democratic Party supporter, I am NOT less than informed. I am more informed than many on the right.

So when I get accused of being a spokesperson for conservative talking points I have to laugh. No Mr. Gibson (yes you), my believe system is rooted in much deeper things.

The truth is that our founding fathers (and no, this has nothing to do with Glen Beck) understood and discussed philosophy. When they founded our nation they understood the influence and importance of having a firm philosophical foundation for our nations constitution. In our current times, this is lost. People are lost in a world of ideas and buzz worlds that have lost any firm philosophical basis even though they are rooted in it. The problem is that those who use them really don't understand the basis for what they are saying. There ideas, being based only in their mind, become a kind of prison because they don't believe there is any firm foundation to root them in other than their feelings. Politics then is based more on the cult of personality and in the US, the Messianic figure of Barack Obama who is certainly no Messiah. We also listen more to entertainers like Oprah Winfrey than to those to have studied the great philosophies of the world and understand their basis.
Strike 2: He spelled belief system as "believe system." Proof that the Far-Right can't spell right.
In fact, the Founding Fathers would be sickened by what Glenn Beck is saying.

Those like Mr. Gibson have been sold a product that like any other product that the television sells based on nothing more than an appeal to the senses. The promise of a world in which pain is minimized and pleasure is maximized. That is classic Peter Singer but of course, My Gibson would rather spend his time attacking people rather than really learning what he is being sold. If you eat a lot of sugar Mr. Gibson, you get diabetes and in time, if that is not taken care of then your organs die. That is what is happening to our nation. Those foundations most importantly the constitution, care dying under the corruptive influence of relativistic poltiical ideologies.

Believe it or not, people like me are not part of some Republican conspiracy. To be honest, I don't like either party. Tea party is also a term invented by the left. Call me whatever you want but at least I know the basis for my beliefs and you Mr. Gibson, can go on believing the lie but don't be surprised when the bill collector comes to your door and there will be no one to save you, because the nation that gave you freedom and liberty has been "fundamentally transformed".

Strike 3: This man is making insults about my weight, my political beliefs, and everything having to do with me.

I bet Dana Loesch will call me a "Liberal Stalker and a Troll who's snooping on me."

Albert Pujols and Tony LaRussa attend "I Have A Scheme" rally

Today, I am appalled about this story that Albert Pujols and Tony LaRussa are going to the "I Have A Scheme" Rally.

From my Daily Kos blog:

Albert Pujols and Tony LaRussa attend Glenn Beck's "I Have A Scheme" Rally

ShareNew 0

Fri Aug 27, 2010 at 02:37:00 PM CDT

Tomorrow's Restoring Honor 8/28 Rally, aka "I Have A Scheme" rally held by Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin, will have 2 of the St. Louis Cardinals in attendance: Albert Pujols (who I admire as a player... politics, not so much) and Teabagging manager Tony LaRussa. Making matters worse is that local Teabagger hero (to some) and a villain to most others Dana Loesch will be there for KFTK and for PJTV, and so will Randy Tobler and Jamie Allman.

Beck's rally serves one purpose = bastardizing the legacy of MLK and his ideas.

Is Tony La Russa Slightly Evil or Slightly Stupid? -Updated

The Daily Show had a hilarious segment (even by their standards) the other day asking if Fox News is Evil or Stupid?
Now comes word that Tony La Russa is introducing Pujols at Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" rally in Washington D.C. this weekend, headlined by Beck and Sarah Palin (and being reported on by Dana Loesch for Pajama's media TV). La Russa absurdly says of the rally:
I don't know who's going to be there, who's going to accept it. But the gist of the day is not political. I think it's a really good concept, actually.
He also claimed that he would not have gone if it was political:
"I made it clear when we were approached: I said, 'If it's political, I wouldn't even approach Albert with it.' I don't want to be there if it's political," La Russa said.
No one in their right mind who has even the dimmest awareness of American politics could possible think that this rally, chalk full of right-wing speakers and held on the same date as Martin Luther King's "I have a dream speech" by a guy who said President Obama "hates White People" is not political. Which makes me wonder, WTF is going on with TLR? I mean, he's obviously not stupid, as he is widely regarded as a baseball genius. But could he be so completely unaware of current events and the nonstop litany of absurdities and offensive behavior from Beck that he honestly believes anyone would think that this is an apolitical event?

http://stlactivisthub.blogspot.com/2010/08/is-tony-la-russa-slightly-evil-or.html

LaRussa & Pujols Supporting Beck's Thinly Disguised Political Rally Because It's Definitely Not A Thinly Disguised Political Rally

Tony LaRussa knows a lot about baseball. But does he know what he's talking about here?

First, why would anyone ever choose to associate themselves with and promote an event put on by a charlatan like Beck?

http://www.firedupmissouri.com/content/tony-larussa-cannot-be-dumb

Finally, from the Dana blog:

I’ll be in D.C. for the next couple of days covering the Restoring Honor rally for PJTV. I’ll also be broadcasting tomorrow’s show live from Fox studios.

Stay tuned for links to livestream coverage of Saturday’s event.

Dana Loesch is also aiding and abetting in treason.

ALERT: Russ Carnahan states that the man involved was ex-campaign worker

Looks like the STL Teabagger Noise Machine's out in full-on distortion mode and cranked up to 19.

Updated from earlier in the day: Russ Carnahan (D) says that the man linked to the firebombing was an ex-campaign worker. Jake Wagman of the Post-Dispatch/STLToday.com has this.

Rep. Carnahan: Man linked to office firebombing was ex-campaign worker

The campaign office of Rep. Russ Carnahan was firebombed early Tuesday morning, Aug. 17, 2010. Photo by Jake Wagman

ST. LOUIS -- U.S. Rep. Russ Carnahan has confirmed that the individual linked to a firebombing at his office was a former campaign worker.

The St. Louis Democrat said in a news conference Wednesday outside his campaign headquarters on Chippewa Street -- which, last week, was the target of an arson that caused minor damage -- that the man questioned by police in the incident had worked as a canvasser for his campaign.

The Aug. 17 fire began after an incendiary device was thrown into a room in the campaign office through a back window.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the one room -- which the campaign uses for its finance operation -- leaving a charred table and documents.

Russ Carnahan is seeking his fourth term in Congress. He is locked in a tough re-election contest with Republican Ed Martin, who previously condemned the arson attack.

Dana Loesch whining about "the media had better apologize" shit as usual:

Carnahan Confirms Powers Firebomb Story

August 25, 2010
by DanaLoesch

Now that Carnahan has ended speculation, I expect to see a full apology from local “blogger” Chad Garrison apologizing to activists for the disparaging reporting as well as a full retraction for the falsehood that activists left a coffin in Carnahan’s yard during the spring, a story proven false by oh, facts and also Betsey Bruce’s reporting which showed, on camera, the coffin in the garage of one Bill Hennessy. I won’t hold my breath.

If anyone should give out retractions, it's you, Dana! But, sadly, that won't happen as Loesch will believe this lie till kingdom come and doesn't give ONE crap about the truth. I bet you the entire land of Warren County that Dana'll be screaming that "Democrats are violent people" card tomorrow on The Dana Show.

http://thedanashow.wordpress.com/2010/08/25/carnahan-confirms-powers-firebomb-story/

Michelle Malkin (the vile scumbag who writes for the St. Louis Globe Democrat), via her blog, deceptively edited a blogpost to make it that the "Teabaggers are persecuted" meme fits in.

Michelle Malkin picks up on the story from the local tea party irresponsibly accusing someone of vandalism before the facts are out and falsely claiming that the media was "blaming the St. Louis tea party." I've already discussed much of this, so I'll just focus on her misleading edit.

http://stlactivisthub.blogspot.com/2010/08/shocker-michelle-malkin-uses-edit-to.html

The Daily RFT has this:

Carnahan Addresses Allegations Firebomb Suspect Worked for Re-Election Campaign

russ_carnahan_foto.jpg
Daily RFT
Carnahan: Says No. 1 priority is safety of his staff.
Correction to this story appears below.

Congressman Russ Carnahan held a press conference today to address allegations that the suspect of last week's firebombing of his campaign headquarters worked for his re-election campaign.

"Law authorities have done thorough interviews," said Carnahan, who added that he's been reticent to talk about the issue out of concern of "hindering" the police investigation. "The fact is that no one has yet been charged with a crime."

The blog Gateway Pundit today reported that Powers was upset that he hadn't been paid for his campaign work. Carnahan, however, denied that claim.
Correction: This story originally indicated that Carnahan confirmed the firebombing suspect worked for his campaign. That's not accurate. Carnahan confirmed that Powers once worked for his campaign but did not confirm that he was actually a police subject in the case.

http://blogs.riverfronttimes.com/dailyrft/2010/08/carnahan_suspect_in_fireboming_worked_for_election_campaign.php

Jimi971, Dana Loesch's BFF, had this crazy tweet:

Hey @chadgarrison @stlactivisthub Sorry, but your Tea Party sucker punch missed by a mile... http://bit.ly/cpV2e8

Well, Jimi971, Chad Garrison and Adam Shriver have been telling the truth throughout this story. Dana and her cronies have been fibbing.

-------------------------

I at first thought it was done by some Teabagger aided by Dana Loesch's rants. But it's not the case here. But since Chris Powers was NOT an actual subject in this, he remains innocent. However, the local Teabagger Noise Cabal, led by Hoft, Hennessy, and Loesch (Ultimate Satan)-- the 3 Devils of St. Louis-- are all out wanting him guilty.

Dana Loesch, Jim Hoft, Sharp Elbows falsely claim that Chris Powers (the firebomber) is a "Democrat Operative"

The STL Teabagger noise machine, led by Jim Hoft, Dana Loesch, Sharp Elbows, etc..., ere falsely claiming that Chris Powers, the person who was behind the firebombing, was a "Democrat Operative."

First from race-baiter Jim Hoft, who is a habitual distortion artist:

Posted by Jim Hoft on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, 8:48 AM

Last Tuesday August 17, 2010, Rep. Russ Carnahan’s office was reportedly vandalized and “firebombed” at 2 AM in the morning. Hours later police arrested a suspect for the crime and held him for several hours.

Of course, when the “firebombing” was reported local leftists blamed the tea party activists.

Dem operative and firebomber Chris Powers is the sweaty one pictured here on right during a rally for nationalized health care. Powers is was a paid canvasser for Russ Carnahan.

Powers is a man on the edge, who has suffered a lot of personal trauma in the recent past. Powers, a radical leftist, is accused of a pretty serious crime in what could only be considered a desperate cry for help.

http://gatewaypundit.firstthings.com/2010/08/vandal-who-firebombed-carnahans-office-identified-hes-a-dem-operative-disgruntled-employee/

So, Jim Hoft is lying about Chris Powers being a Democrat Operative. It's YOUR fault, Gateway Pundit, for allowing it to happen.

Next, Missouri's #1 Villain, Dana Loesch, baselessly posts this screed by calling the firebomber a "Democrat Plant."

*UPDATE: Carnahan “Firebombing” an Inside Job?

Did the Carnahan camp know this possible truth and consent by silence to the media’s attempt to trump this up as a tea party incident? If this is true, doesn’t this make the fourth incident in which people associated with the Carnahan campaign have run afoul of the law and have engaged in illegal behavior? Why didn’t the Russ Carnahan campaign correct the narrative of the local alternative weekly and Jake Wagman’s subtle suggestion that it was a tea partier? Because he’s in the campaign of his life and is desperate for anything, even the sympathy vote?

The alternative weekly’s (RFT) heinously irresponsible “blogger” – who once admitted, in print, his inability to vet his posts because he lacked the skills to write ten posts a day and be accurate – and the daily’s Jake Wagman need to issue retractions and clarifications, respectively, and the Russ Carnahan campaign needs to issue an apology for allowing this charade to be pinned on the very people whom he seeks to represent.

http://thedanashow.wordpress.com/2010/08/25/carnahan-firebombing-an-inside-job/

from @DLoesch: The irresponsible "journalists" who are hard up to pin this crap on the tea party can save their last bit of credibility by apologizing now.

My rebuttal: @DLoesch: No, it was YOUR fault that the firebomber was allowed to do what he wanted to. YOU are an enabler of violence, Dana!

Wow, this woman is a fraud, plain and simple. I heard there's a room in Hell for you, right next door to Brian Nieves, Ms. Liaresch!

So, Dana's fibbing out of both sides of her mouth on this. She's claiming that Russ Carnahan was somehow culpable for this, when we all know that she's the one responsible for the incident.
Also, she's playing the "Blame the Union Thugs/SEIU Thugs Card" again... this time with the Dollar Tree allegedly hiring out-of-state non-union workers. Loesch will still NOT drop the "Union Thugs beat up Gladney" nonsense, and likely won't.

Finally, the distorting buttmunch Adam Sharp aka SharpElbows.com. says this:

Guy Who FireBombed Carnahan Office Is A DEMOCRAT OPERATIVE!

I asked Russ about this very guy (Chris Powers) last night...he declined to comment.

So, SharpElbows has a doctored video regarding Carnahan being asked about the firebomber. He has had a history of doctored videotapes, just like Bob McCarty.

Now, the real facts, not the spin put out by the STL Teabaggers:

Kinder Inexplicably Tries To Score Political Points On Apparent Arson

Peter Kinder saw St. Louis Tea Party bloggers getting excited about who might be behind the apparent arsonat Russ Carnahan's campaign office, and decided that the most responsible course of action would be for him to join in. As far as I know, charges have not been filed by the local prosecutor's office, but Kinder didn't let that stop him from signing his initials -- and #FiredPelosi hashtag -- to "Guy Who FireBombed Carnahan Office Is A DEMOCRAT OPERATIVE!"

http://www.firedupmissouri.com/content/kinder-hoping-score-political-points-apparent-arson

Fired Up! Missouri calls out Peter Kinder for using the firebombing to score cheap political touchdowns for his bastard Repuke buddies in Jeff City. He is just like any other Republican, a low-life scum who's worried more about winning elections than giving a damn about the Missouri people.

UPDATE: Adam Shriver's STL Activist Hub just put this up about 15 minutes ago.

Tea Partiers Claiming That "Democratic Operative" Bombed Carnahan's Office

Jim Hoft, Dana Loesch, and others are claiming, based on Jim Hoft's "insider information," that the person arrested for trying to set fire to Russ Carnahan's office was a liberal blogger with ties to the Democratic Party. They are also falsely claiming that local reporters "blamed" the tea party for the initial attack, and are hilariously demanding retractions and apologies. Amazingly, Loesch is also claiming that the Carnahan campaign needs to apologize for having their office firebombed. Here are the relevant bits:

So, a little context. First of all, no credible media outlet has reported the information about who the suspect is: only Jim Hoft. Hoft also claimed last week that he had "inside information" that it was a burglary, which was false. Second, even if Hoft's information is true, the information was really only about a suspect. Recall that the person who was originally picked up by police was released because of a lack of evidence that he did anything. In other words, as far as any responsible agency or entity knows, there is no credible evidence who did it yet.

Loesch and Hoft hilariously claim that Jake Wagman and Chad Garrison should apologize for accusing the tea party of setting of the firebomb. Unfortunately for them, neither Wagman nor Garrison did anything of the sort. Unlike the St. Louis tea party, they did not actually accuse people of committing a crime before the evidence was in. Here's what Garrison said:
Perhaps, he joined his fellow "patriots" earlier this year when they burned Carnahan's photo in effigy or placed a coffin on the sidewalk outside his home. On second thought, maybe he's not a Tea Party member. Firebombing your opponent's office seems a little too, um, sane for that group.

Facebook yanks Anti-Dana Loesch Fans group, Dana The Coward's at it again

Just yesterday, I got some upsetting news over at facebook, in that they decided to yank one of my groups, the Anti-Dana Loesch Fans group. I bet some Loesch-loving sycophant (Jimi971 being one) and/or Dana herself did this stunt and reported it ON PURPOSE.

Hello,

The group "Anti-Dana Loesch Fans" has been removed because it violated our Terms of Use. Among other things, groups that are hateful, threatening, or obscene are not allowed. We also take down groups that attack an individual or group, or advertise a product or service. Continued misuse of Facebook's features could result in your account being disabled.
They did this to mine, but yet Facebook gets away with people who create groups/pages who threaten Obama and Liberals/Democrats.

Now to Adam Shriver's piece from St. Louis Activist Hub:

Profiles in Cowardice: Loesch Attacks Feminists Then Runs Scared

Dana Loesch wrote an opinion piece for the Washington Examiner doing her typical logic-inverted gibberish routine about how the people who fight for the rights of oppressed people (i.e. people who inevitably aren't neocons or tea partiers) are actually the ones who are secretly responsible for the oppression. In this case, she was claiming that feminists are actually responsible for "a political ploy to tether women to The Man."

As she always does when discussing feminism, Loesch makes sure to bring in some physical references about how the people she's arguing agaisnst are somehow lacking in some "femininity" or some physical characteristic. For example, when I tuned in to her radio show after the Emily's List mama grizzly video came out, she made sure to repeatedly make claims that the membership of Emily's List has "hair lips." For some reason, Loesch can't seem to talk about women's issues without bringing it back to physical appearance, which some might say is also a way in which women are kept down.

http://stlactivisthub.blogspot.com/2010/08/profiles-in-cowardice-loesch-attacks.html

I back up Shriver on this one. Dana Loesch is indeed a big coward towards people who disagree with her.

Jimi971 gets praised by STL Teabaggers

Jimi971 harasses not only Shriver, but Jake Wagman, me, and Russ Carnahan.

Anyway, St. Louis tea party leaders Dana Loesch and Bill Hennessy are so thrilled with Jimi's insightful comments, that they both consistently recommend him during that Twitter ritual known as "Follow Friday:"

Faux Feminist Dana Loesch claims that "Liberals hate Sarah Palin for being a Conservative."

In Sunday's edition of the Teabagging Right-Wing Washington Examiner, Dana Loesch baselessly claims that "Sarah Palin is hated by the Liberals for being a smart, Conservative woman." This woman is talking out of both sides of her mouth.

Dana Loesch: Sarah Palin and the rise of the Feminist Right

By: Dana Loesch
OpEd Contributor
August 22, 2010

Liberal women have their panties in a bunch over the media's recent characterization of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as a "feminist."

I have some news for you, Dana! Many Liberals and Conservatives (some of which are Christian Conservative) HATE Sarah Palin due to the fact that she is an incompetent moron who thinks we should have the Bible instead of the Constitution as the law of the land, and as an inexperienced politician at the national level.

Sarah Palin approval ratings:
AP-GfK 8/11-16/10 1007 A 41 54 - 5 - 1 -13

So basically, if she is the GOP's nominee, Palin would guarantee Obama's second term.

Here's the rest of her screed-based innuendo and lies:

You see, that job is patented by liberal feminists who, for the past 30 or so years, have turned the term for "belief and advocacy in and for equality between the sexes" into a vote-manipulating, moneymaking shtick of an oxymoron. They get upset whenever anyone attempts to co-opt the unofficial trademark of the female left and dilute their commodity.

Popularly defined feminism is no longer about liberating women from the patriarchy but about beholding them to a political party whose policies clearly affect women negatively.

This past month, liberal feminists made more hay made over Palin's "mama grizzlies" talk than the matter of the Food and Drug Administration jerking Avastin off the market. Avastin is a drug used to treat late-stage breast cancer and has been shown to extend the life of some breast cancer patients by five months, but was deemed "cost-prohibitive" by the government.

Emily's List cared enough about women to make a video criticizing Palin, but apparently not enough about breast cancer patients to make a video criticizing the FDA's move.

Liberal feminists made more hay about Palin's chest than I saw them make over the nine women who were recently stoned to death in the Middle East. Those same liberal feminists were also silent when Alle Bautsch was beaten in the street for being a conservative woman.

Liberal feminists talk of choice, but refuse to take the liberated, independent responsibility for their choices and instead press Uncle Sam to subsidize their abortions and birth control.

Liberal women complain about unemployment, yet promote policies which stifle the free market, suppress economic growth and shrink their wallets.

Liberal women rage about education, but help put a man in the White House who worked to kill educational equality by destroying the school vouchers program.

Liberal advocacy for equality between the sexes is a myth; through second- and third-wave feminism, equality became about lowering the bar and demanding that everyone sink to meet the expectations. Case in point: Title IX, wherein boys' welfare and achievement was suppressed so that girls could catch and match them.

Equality is not met by comparing oppression or mediocrity, but by comparing potential and excellence; nor is it met by tearing down the opposition or suppressing ability. Liberal women are quick to ignore their strengths and unique qualities and measure their success by masculine standards in the workplace, in sports or in the home.

It should surprise no one that many conservative women are bucking the notion that liberalism owns the patent on "feminism" and controls whether a woman can or cannot call herself a feminist.

These past two years we've seen the rebirth of feminism: "The face of the tea party is female," said a March 2010 Quinnipiac poll, which detailed who's driving the grass-roots movement.

The year 1992 was billed as the "Year of the Woman," with 222 women on the ballot for congressional seats; this year Rutgers University counted 239 women on the ballot heading to the 2010 midterms.

Conservative women are active because the liberal idea of feminism has failed. An entire generation of berated men have been hog-tied by the chick card, and conservative women are tired of the liberal stereotype that they're all simpletons who only raise their voices to sing in church.

Conservative women are rebelling against this false advocacy used as a political ploy to tether women to The Man.

Say hello to conservative feminism.

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/columns/Sarah-Palin-and-the-rise-of-the-Feminist-Right-534655-101265274.html

This nutcase is lying to her listeners. You are playing the "Liberals hate Pretty Conservative Women" card, Dana! We Liberals do NOT hate the fact that the Fixed Noise females are good-looking, but their rhetoric ruins it. This woman is a vile sexist hypocrite who is, by Rush's definition, a Feminazi. So the next time that you see Dana Loesch harp about "Liberals hate women," (or anything related to politics) remember that she is a bomb-throwing loon and should NOT be trusted. Shame on you, Dana! I heard there's a room in a mental asylum next to Glenn Beck, Michelle Malkin, and Sarah Palin for Ms. Loesch to check herself into.

Momocrats has this rebuttal of her lies:

Does Dana Loesch think or is she just a Luntzian robotron?

Palin_Feminism_Web I am not a feminist. I am a woman who has assumed I have the same right as anyone else to choose my own course, make my own future, and do so on equal footing with men. I believe the government exists to serve citizens, not to act as an authoritarian axe or discriminate against one class of citizens over another. I really don't care if moms stay at home or work. I've done both, both have advantages and disadvantages, and I'm not out to overturn patriarchy. I actually like men. I'm married to one. I get along well with them. Those who act like idiots don't get any attention from me.

Now that you know a little about my perspective...

I debated about whether to take on the latest turd Dana Loesch dropped on SFExaminer.com in the form of an op-ed column or ignore her. Other than being the latest Ann Coulter wannabe, she hasn't said much original for the past year or so. (Yes, I snark. It serves as a reminder not to take her too seriously.)

The Sarah Palins, Michele Bachmanns, and other members of the "feminist right" can always be counted on to echo the newest Luntz talking points through the echo chamber. Now that Betsy McCaughey, Pamela Geller and Dr. Laura have been thoroughly discredited, they just pick up some other woman looking for her five minutes of fame and hackery. Dana is the newest candidate. Not the first and she won't be the last.

Do conservative women -- especially intelligent ones (yes, they do exist) -- ever wonder why the party faithful finds the dumbest, most extreme groupies to deliver their message? Republican cynicism at its best -- pay lip service to women's equality but find the ones dumber than a rock to deliver it. Bachmann, Foxx, Palin, Angle....need I say more?

At any rate, this little litany of smashes against "liberal women" is classic Luntz/Rove framing, and deserves a thorough debunking.

Let's begin with her assertions about Avastin, a drug originally developed to treat colon cancer.

Not so much. This is one of the high dangers of fast-tracking cancer drug approvals before the clinical trials really prove their efficacy. (It's a big word, Dana. Look it up.) The FDA didn't "jerk Avastin off the market" in order to leave late-stage breast cancer patients adrift without a lifeline, even if Dana Loesch says so. The FDA pulled Avastin because it was ineffective against late-stage breast cancer. Out of three clinical trials, it was only reported as effective on one patient. One. single. patient. And that was in the first trial. The second trials, conducted with more controls, yielded no positive results.

As a conservative woman, you'd think Dana Loesch would appreciate this: Avastin costs $50,000/year. Is it really conservative to spend $50,000 for an ineffective treatment? Really?

Moving on to her litany of complaints about "liberal feminists"...

Liberal feminists made more hay about Palin's chest than I saw them make over the nine women who were recently stoned to death in the Middle East. Those same liberal feminists were also silent when Alle Bautsch was beaten in the street for being a conservative woman.
Actually, it was Hollywood rags. I had to go check because I hadn't heard anything much about it, and what I heard was silly. I wouldn't waste a two-sentence blog post on it. Not even a tweet. But now I'll say this: I couldn't care less what Sarah Palin's bra cup size is, and neither should anyone else. It's irrelevant. But then, I'm not a feminist.

The case of Allee Bautsch (psssst! Dana, it's always nice to verify spelling of a person's name) is a sad one. I'm sorry she and her boyfriend were assaulted and beaten by a couple of punks. But having read the police report, it's unclear that they were connected at all to the earlier protestors outside the restaurant, and as sad as it is to say, punks beat up people all the time. It's not national news, but it is indeed sad and sadder still that people are acting out in a criminal fashion, regardless of their motive.

Liberal feminists talk of choice, but refuse to take the liberated, independent responsibility for their choices and instead press Uncle Sam to subsidize their abortions and birth control.

We're just going to disagree on abortion. That's a fundamental issue, a wedge issue at that, and we won't agree. I wonder though, why she isn't similarly outraged at those old men receiving federally subsidized Viagra.

Liberal women complain about unemployment, yet promote policies which stifle the free market, suppress economic growth and shrink their wallets.

That "free market" collapsed before any of the so-called liberal policies kicked in, Dana. That 'free market' is what gave license to fat cats nationwide to loot, pillage and strip the middle class of their homes, jobs, and retirement plans.

When millionaires walk away from their mortgages and turn the housing market on its head, something is clearly wrong with the 'free markets'. Anyone over 50 -- especially women over 50 -- can attest to the difficulty of finding a job, and if they actually do find one, they're forced to accept less pay for more hours, especially if they fall into the unfortunate group of "99ers". No, we're not complaining. We're living it.

Here's a question for Dana: How does she feel about Glenn Beck's pronouncement that 99ers 'live off their neighbors' wallet', and they 'aren't regular people'?

Liberal feminists are more compassionate than that. For all the demagoguery coming from conservative women about being holy and pure for Jesus, they fall a little short on the "doing of the Word" part. (Note to Dana: It's James 1:22) On the other hand, liberal feminists understand that we are all interconnected, that the least of us is as important as the wealthiest among us, and we promote policies which permit those who are in need not to starve, or be sent to poorhouses.

Liberal women rage about education, but help put a man in the White House who worked to kill educational equality by destroying the school vouchers program.

This is because we believe all children deserve an education, not just the children of white folks who have the means and the money to send their children to overpriced private schools. Vouchers are worthless to people who have no means to transport their children to the suburban pricey schools. Worthless.

Without support for these statements, I simply call bullshit and move on. I've raised two boys and have one girl in high school. They have not been treated inequally, nor has my daughter received any particular privileges, nor were my sons' accomplishments underplayed in favor of girls' accomplishments. This is, of course, only my experience.

It isn't much different than my own school experience. I graduated in 1976. My class was the first one where a girl was elected student body president. We had two valedictorians, one male and one female. Before that, valedictorians were male.

Saying something happened doesn't make it so, Dana.

Equality is not met by comparing oppression or mediocrity, but by comparing potential and excellence; nor is it met by tearing down the opposition or suppressing ability.

Yes. I agree. Equality isn't granted. But what Dana refuses to understand is that it is also not assumed. We still live in a time where a man and a woman can do the same job, work the same hours, perform to a standard of excellence, and the woman will earn 78 percent of what the man will earn. This is not equality. It is discrimination. If a man and a woman perform equally, they should be paid equally. That is all.

Is there irony in the "tearing down the opposition" comment, given that Dana's entire op-ed is nothing more than a ripping, renting, tearing-down of her opposition? You be the judge of that.

Loesch falsely suggests that the "Park51 builders are from Terrorist States"

First of all, Dana Loesch is lying off her ass about Park 51 being a "haven for terrorists."

Mosque Developers Won’t Rule Out Taking Money from Terrorist States

August 19, 2010
by DanaLoesch

SHOCKER.

The developers behind the Islamic center planned for a site near Ground Zero won’t rule out accepting financing from the Mideast — including from Saudi Arabia and Iran — as they begin searching for $100 million needed to build the project.

[...]

“We’ll look at all available options within the United States to start. We’re hoping to fund this predominately from domestic donors. That can be everything from institutions all the way down to personal [contributors,]” said Sultan.

When asked if they would then turn to foreign donors, Sultan replied, “I can’t comment on that.”

[...]

Iran has been designated a sponsor of terrorism by the U.S. government.

A gesture of “healing” and goodwill, eh?

Imam Faisal Abdul Rauf, chairman of the Cordoba Initiative, the cultural organization behind the mosque is currently on a federally funded State Department tour of the Middle East, visiting Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

Yes, the man who said that America was an “accessory” to 9/11 is flying around the Middle East on your dime.

Transcript:

Imam ABDUL RAUF: I wouldn’t say that the United States deserved what happened, but the United States policies were an accessory to the crime that happened.

BRADLEY: OK. You say that we’re an accessory?

Imam ABDUL RAUF: Yes.

BRADLEY: How?

Imam ABDUL RAUF: Because we have been an accessory to a lot of–of innocent lives dying in the world. In fact, it–in the most direct sense, Osama bin Laden is made in the USA.

The inability to take responsibility for an ideology that boasts the extermination of those who do not share it is not an American-made product – but the pansified politically-correct strategy is, employed by the American left and the only aspect of American life in which the extremists will assimilate.

Related: Germany shut down the mosque in Hamburg after it was discovered that Mohammed Atta and other 9/11 terrorists – and others after them – found it welcoming enough to use for plotting jihad:

The Taiba mosque in Hamburg, once frequented by some of the September 11 attackers, was searched by police and shut down today because German authorities believed it was again being used as a meeting point for Islamist radicals.

So clearly, Loesch is accusing the builders of the new Cordoba House of using money from terrorist nations to build it, when in fact it will come from American money.

It's not just Liaresch-- but the rest of the Righties are using the "Park 51 = Terrorism Breeding Center Lie" to spread fearmongering about Obama's alleged support of his Muslim faith, when in fact he is a devout Christian. Media Matters has this rebuttal to the GOP's talking points:

Right-wing media smear Park51 as potential haven for terrorists

August 20, 2010 1:35 pm ET

In their relentless attacks against the planned Park51 Islamic community center in Manhattan, right-wing media have smeared the center as a potential haven or recruitment center for terrorists and extremists.

Right-wing media smear Islamic center as potential haven or recruitment center for terrorists

Morris: Park 51 will be used to "train and recruit Sharia law advocates who become terrorists." On the August 19 edition of Fox News' Fox & Friends, Fox News contributor Dick Morris cited a study that he claimed said "80 percent of the mosques...teach Sharia law as the main event at their mosques." Morris later claimed that Park 51 will be used to "study and promote and train and recruit Sharia law advocates, which, who become terrorists."

Morris: Park51 would be a "command center for terrorism." On the August 18 edition of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor, during a discussion of Park51, Morris claimed "these Sharia mosques ... have become the command centers for terrorists," adding, "so this one would be, too."

Bolling: Park51 "may be a meeting place for some of the scariest minds -- some of the biggest terrorist minds." On the August 19 edition of Fox & Friends, Fox Business host Eric Bolling claimed that Park51 "may be a meeting place for some of the scariest minds -- some of the biggest terrorist minds."

Kilmeade: "The next Hamburg cell could be right downtown." During the discussion with Bolling on the August 19 Fox & Friends, co-host Brian Kilmeade said of Park51, "The next Hamburg cell could be right downtown." A terrorist cell in Hamburg, Germany, whose members would later become the 9-11 hijackers, is believed to be the origin of the 9-11 plot.

Limbaugh suggests Park51 would be a "recruiting tool for domestic extremists." On the August 3 edition of his nationally syndicated radio show, Rush Limbaugh stated that if the Guantanamo Bay detention center "is a recruiting tool for foreign extremists, what about a World Trade Center mosque being a recruiting tool for domestic extremists?"

Nugent: "The mosque will attract extremists and radicals who will try to harm America." In an August 19 Washington Times op-ed attacking Park51, Ted Nugent wrote that "[t]he mosque will attract extremists and radicals who will try to harm America." Nugent repeatedly referred to Islam as a "voodoo religion" and concluded, "If additional American blood is spilled in the Big Apple, the politicians who supported this mosque will be as guilty as the Muslim voodoo kooks who love death and destruction in the name of Allah."

Cal Thomas repeatedly suggests Park51 would be a terrorist front. In an August 3 column, conservative commentator Cal Thomas wrote: "Ask yourself: if you wanted to infiltrate a country, wouldn't a grand strategy be to rapidly build mosques from Ground Zero in New York, to Temecula, Calif., and establish beachheads so fanatics could plan and advance their strategies under the cover of religious freedom and that great American virtue known as 'tolerance,' which is being used against us?" In a July 21 post on The Washington Post's On Faith blog, Thomas wrote:

A mosque near Ground Zero is not about tolerance, but triumphalism. It isn't about honoring the dead, but celebrating their deaths.

[...]

Don't we know why our enemies desire a beachhead in America? They wish to launch new terror attacks and forcibly convert Americans to their way of thinking and believing. What will we gain by allowing this to happen?

Park51 organizer has repeatedly condemned terrorism and "Muslim militants"

Rauf: "We condemn terrorists. We recognize it exists in our faith, but we are committed to eradicate it." A May 21 New York Daily News article quoted Imam Faisal Abdul Rauf, who is leading the Park51 initiative, as stating: "We condemn terrorists. We recognize it exists in our faith, but we are committed to eradicate it." He also stated: "We want to rebuild this community. ... This is about moderate Muslims who intend to be and want to be part of the solution."

Slate: Rauf has "denounced church burnings in Muslim countries ... proposed to reclaim Islam from violent radicals." An August 2 Slate.com article reported that Rauf "has denounced church burnings in Muslim countries, rejected Islamic triumphalism over Christians and Jews, and proposed to reclaim Islam from violent radicals such as Osama Bin Laden."

NYT: Rauf "condemns suicide bombings and all violence carried out in the name of religion." A June 23, 2004, New York Times article reported that Rauf "condemns suicide bombings and all violence carried out in the name of religion." The Times further reported that Rauf "meets regularly with Christian and Jewish leaders, not only to forge a common front but also to explain his belief that Islamic terrorists do not come from another moral universe -- that they arise from oppressive societies that he feels Washington had a hand in creating."

After 9-11, Rauf "categorically condemned suicide bombers." A June 8, 2004, Newsday article (accessed via Nexis) reported: "Rauf has done little else since the terrorist attacks that pulled him from his mahogany pulpit in the shadow of Ground Zero. At the outset, he categorically condemned suicide bombers and, in fact, any violence committed in the name of religion." From the Newsday article:

"One frequently hears the refrain: 'Where are the moderate Muslim leaders? Why aren't they speaking out more loudly about world issues?'" said John Bennett, former president of the Aspen Institute, an international relations think tank, where he first met Rauf, and now a cofounder of the Cordoba Initiative. "And here is a man who has the courage to do so and who is speaking out with great eloquence and feeling."

Rauf has done little else since the terrorist attacks that pulled him from his mahogany pulpit in the shadow of Ground Zero. At the outset, he categorically condemned suicide bombers and, in fact, any violence committed in the name of religion. He also said that American policies "were an accessory to the crime that happened" since they had armed a generation of jihadists to fight the Soviets in Afghanistan.

"Explaining is not justifying," he said. "I want people to understand the things that have fueled terrorism, because if we address them, that's how we eliminate terror."

Rauf: "I can confidently assert that I am closer to my Jewish and Christian brothers here ... than the Muslim militants carrying a narrow view." According to a September 8, 2002, Denver Post article (accessed via Nexis), Rauf told congregants at his Manhattan mosque: "I can confidently assert that I am closer to my Jewish and Christian brothers here a [sic] than the Muslim militants carrying a narrow view."

Daily News: Rauf "has a long history of opposing radical teachings." A May 21 New York Daily News editorial stated that Rauf "has a long history of opposing radical teachings and reaching out across religious lines to Christians and Jews. He leads a mosque in Tribeca, several of whose members were killed in the collapse of the World Trade Center."

Rauf widely described as "moderate"

Time: Rauf a "moderate" who "openly condemn[s] the death cult of al-Qaeda and its adherents." An August 3 Time article reported: "Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf and his wife Daisy Khan, are actually the kind of Muslim leaders right-wing commentators fantasize about: modernists and moderates who openly condemn the death cult of al-Qaeda and its adherents."

Abraham Foxman: Rauf "a moderate imam" who "certainly has spoken out against some of the extremism in the Islamic world." On the August 5 edition of Fox News' Fox & Friends, Abraham Foxman of the Anti-Defamation League, which opposes the planned Islamic center, stated that Rauf "wrote a book about moderation and tolerance" and that "as far as we're concerned, he is what he is: a moderate imam. He certainly has spoken out against some of the extremism in the Islamic world."

Jeffery Goldberg: Rauf is "a Muslim who believes that it is possible to remain true to the values of Islam and, at the same time, to be a loyal citizen of a Western, non-Muslim country." In an August 3 post, The Atlantic's Jeffrey Goldberg wrote: "I know Feisal Abdul Rauf; I've spoken with him at a public discussion at the 96th street mosque in New York about interfaith cooperation. He represents what Bin Laden fears most: a Muslim who believes that it is possible to remain true to the values of Islam and, at the same time, to be a loyal citizen of a Western, non-Muslim country."

Colleagues have reportedly described Rauf "as having built a career preaching tolerance and interfaith understanding." A December 8, 2009, New York Times article stated: "Those who have worked with him say if anyone could pull off what many regard to be a delicate project, it would be Imam Feisal, whom they described as having built a career preaching tolerance and interfaith understanding." The Times quoted Rabbi Arthur Schneier, leader of New York City's Park East Synagogue, as saying, ''He subscribes to my credo: 'Live and let live.' '' The Times also reported that Joan Brown Campbell, former general secretary of the National Council of Churches of Christ U.S.A., is "a supporter" of Rauf.

Rauf worked with FBI agents to present a "view of Islam that avoids stereotypes." The Daily News reported on March 11, 2003, (accessed via Nexis) that Rauf spoke to FBI agents "as part of an FBI effort to present agents who are the ground troops in the war against terrorism with a view of Islam that avoids stereotypes." From the Daily News article:

In an office in lower Manhattan yesterday blocks from Ground Zero, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf talked about his Muslim beliefs to an unusual audience -- a roomful of FBI agents.

"Islamic extremism for the majority of Muslims is an oxymoron," he explained to the agents. "It is a fundamental contradiction in terms."

Rauf -- imam of the Masjid al-Farah mosque of Tribeca -- was speaking as part of an FBI effort to present agents who are the ground troops in the war against terrorism with a view of Islam that avoids stereotypes.

[...]

Rauf made clear Islam's image has been distorted by radical fundamentalists who insist on strict adherence to their interpretation of the Koran and impose a fascistic order on certain countries.

"It can happen under any religion," he noted.

He insisted Islam has a historic kinship with both Judaism and Christianity, a relationship of which not only Americans but many Muslims are unaware.

My own posting on this issue at Daily Kos:

This is the latest salvo in the GOP's War on Islam: The Ground Zero Mosque. Over the last month, this issue has reached a fever pitch among the Right-Wingers and the Xenophobic Anti-Islamists. It will NOT be on Ground Zero itself, but 2 blocks away from it. And still the Rethugs are pissed off about it, claiming that "Ground Zero is sacred." There's nothing sacred about it, except for a memorial honoring those who died in 9/11.

The GOPers are still running with this non-issue as if "Christianity was under siege" or something of that nature.

My previous blog discussed the Missouri Primaries: Prop C (sadly) passed. I hope it's thrown out like Prop 8.

American Family Association: No More Mosques, Period
August 11, 2010 10:31 am ET — Walid Zafar

Bryan Fischer, the American Family Association's unofficial spokesman and the group's director of issues analysis, writes some rather incendiary stuff. Like most of the people AFA employs, his main area of expertise (and some might legitimately argue, obsession) is in exposing the so-called "radical homosexual agenda." But Fischer is more than just a less-relevant, grandfatherly version of Tony Perkins. In fact, Fischer's antics put Perkins to shame. For instance, he has advocated stoning killer whales and even blamed bear attacks on an unwillingness to follow in Jesus' footsteps.

Like most far-right Christian zealots, Fischer really hates Muslims. Like a lot. Indeed, as Right Wing Watch notes, "Fischer was hating Muslims long before it was the cool conservative thing to do." In the past, he's suggested that the "most compassionate" thing to do would be to deport all Muslims back to "Muslim countries." He's even managed to fit his two favorite targets into the same conspiracy, theorizing in April that the military is run by "fundamentalist Muslims and homosexual activists." In a post yesterday, Fischer brings us the crazy yet again, this time calling on the government to prohibit mosques from being built anywhere in the United States. Period.

Permits should not be granted to build even one more mosque in the United States of America, let alone the monstrosity planned for Ground Zero. This is for one simple reason: each Islamic mosque is dedicated to the overthrow of the American government

So, now you know the truth about Park 51 buliders, and they NO links to terrorism. Imam Rauf is a moderate Islamist, not a Sharia-supporting whacko like the Teabagging Islamophobes think so.
