Dana Loesch still spewing out brazen lies about Hoffa and Boehlert

Conservative sewer mouth hate radio host Dana Loesch has had an ongoing feud with Media Matters' Eric Boehlert. And she (and others at the Breitbart blogs) have accused him of perpetrating lies and a "Soros hack", when in fact the opposite is true.

Earlier this afternoon Soros and SEIU funded Media Matters’ lackey Eric Boehlert falsely claimed that the St. Louis Tea Party left a coffin on Congressman Russ Carnahan’s lawn. Rep. Carnahan’s mouthpiece smeared the St. Louis Tea Party without apology by making up the coffin story which was later blown apart by local media:

Local television shows the coffin was actually in the garage of St. Louis Tea Party Co-Founder Bill Hennessy -- the same coffin Carnahan had claimed was left on his lawn. Magic!

Boehlert needs to retract his statements and apologize for his lie now.

Media Matters has a history of clinging to lies even after they’ve been debunked, as evidenced below. This must be why other outlets call them “irrelevant” and why their traffic is non-existent.

No, Dana, it is YOU that owes Eric Boehlert an apology. And by the way, Media Matters is nowhere close to irrelevant as the righties like to claim it as such.

She has referred Media Matters bloggers as "tax-evading Soros puppets."

Soros blogs were left scrambling late yesterday evening after spending all day carefully constructing a house of cards narrative designed to spin Jimmy Hoffa Jr.’s incendiary remarks into a positive light. Media Matters specifically accused Fox News of “editing” Hoffa’s remarks — apparently “editing” them in real time as they came out of his mouth — and further blamed conservatives such as myself for “buying into it.” (It’s also important to mention that MMfA is a union-funded blog defending a union in this story.)

Right-wing bloggers misled by dishonest Fox News video editing are attacking Teamsters President James Hoffa, Jr. for supposedly urging violence against Tea Party activists during a Labor Day speech. Conservatives are also attacking President Obama, who appeared at the event, for “sanctioning violence against fellow Americans” by failing to denounce Hoffa.

Media Matters and other progressives hammered away with their ridiculous “edited video” narrative, their only defense for the rest of the day:

Loesch’s comments in particular were already way over the top. But they became truly embarrassing at around 3 p.m., when the whole story collapsed after Fox finally got around to airing what Henry had called the “full quote” of Hoffa’s “take these son of a bitches out” comment …

Except later on, after Soros bloggers spent so much effort attempting to spin this as a “doctored” video, Hoffa doubled down on the remarks and made it very clear that he wasn’t talking about “voting.”

Loesch is wrong again, as Media Matters was right on the money that Fixed News and the Right-Wing Lie Machine distorted the tapes and the quote. Yesterday, this blog posted about her disingenuous anti-union lies about Hoffa Jr. regarding the "take the sons of bitches out" and falsely distorted it to mean "take out all the Conservatives/Tea Partiers." Baloney!

The full, unedited Hoffa quote:

HOFFA: Everybody here's got to vote. If we go back and keep the eye on the prize, let's take these son of a bitches out and give America back to America where we belong! Thank you very much!

Now we have the full transcript of Hoffa's speech, from the Detroit Free-Press:

“Are there any Teamsters in the house? This is Motown, but today, this is union town. We are union, we are workers. That is the message that we send today, and that is the message that we send to America.

There is a war on workers. You see it everywhere: It is in the unemployment, it is in the Tea Party, it is in the people that fight what we believe in. And we see the war in Wisconsin where they try to take collective bargaining from our public employees. We took two senate seats back, we are taking Wisconsin back.

That’s number one. Number two, in Ohio, we are fighting a battle there with regard to taking away collective bargaining. We will beat SB5. We’ve got a million signatures. We are going to win in Ohio — that is our number two. And in Michigan, they are thinking about right to work. It ain’t going to happen in Michigan. No way.

We have to keep an eye on the battle we face — a war on workers. And you see it everywhere there is the Tea Party. And you know there is only one way to beat and win that war.

The one thing about working people is we like a good fight. And you know what, they’ve got a war, they’ve got a war with us and there is only going to be one winner. It is going to be the workers of Michigan and America – we are going to win that war. All the way.

But it starts with your involvement, it starts with next November. We’ve got a bunch of people there that don’t’ want the president to succeed, and they are called the Tea Party – the people who don’t want him to do anything right and he is working hard for us.

President Obama is frustrated by what’s going on. Well, guess what, we’ve got the vote. And the answer to what we say is, we remember in November. We will beat the Tea Party and give this country back to workers and America. We can do it together.”

We’ve also got to talk about jobs. I get so tired about people who …(inaudible) these big corporations that send our jobs to Mexico, they send our jobs to China, and they’ve got the audacity to say ‘where are the jobs?’

Well I’ve got news for you. It’s time to bring those jobs back to America and bring America back to work. That’s what we’ve got to do.

We are going to hear from President Obama in a few minutes, and I am so glad that he has come to Michigan because this is where he sees the real America. He looks out on this army of people and you know what I say? President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. President Obama, we want one thing: Jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs…(The crowd joins the chant.)

That’s what we are going to tell America…..When he sees what we are doing here, he will be inspired, but he needs help. And you know what? Everybody here has got a vote. If we go back, we keep the eye on the prize, lets take these sons-of-bitches out and give America back to America where we belong.”

This morning, the 3 Lying Stooges (Breitbart, Loesch, Flynn) invaded the MMFA headquarters demanding a copy of their IRS 990 form.

Loesch falsely claims that "Liberals quiet on Conservative Assaults"

So, Dana Loesch is back to her usual tactic: Blame the Liberals... this time regarding on how "Media Matters's Eric Boehlert suddenly cares about women."

Libs Quiet on Conservative Assaults

September 25, 2010
by DanaLoesch

I’ve been watching Media Matters fake concern over the Reid-supporting chick punched at a townhall forum this week.

Suddenly Eric Boehlert is a defender of women. Except when those women are conservative, because hey, Kelly Owens and Allee Bautsch TOTALLY had it coming, right?

Because Media Matters likes to portray itself to its three readers as being objective and high enough to serve as a faux-journalism critique, I expected to find tons on the on-video, cop-witnessed (as per police report) assault of Kelly Owens by the SEIU crowd. So I did a little search in the Media Matters’ archives:

What? That bastion of media purity, the calvary to the rightwing media, the Soros-funded “media” outlet didn’t have anything about the assault of conservative Kelly Owens?

OK, so I imagine that they’re hurriedly drafting a post now to remedy that glaring oversight, since, afterall, they’re such huge defenders of women all of a sudden.

News for you, Dana: Media Matters is NOT funded by George Soros (unlike what the Republicans claim), but there are many Republican groups who do the EXACT same thing and do they bat an eye? NO!

- More lefty assaults, lefty screeching and intimidation, threats of assault, advocating violence, hateful rallies.

Meanwhile, the tea parties repudiate any such things.

Violence in lieu of discourse is wrong, period. Party, ideology is irrelevant.

Why are only the conservatives saying this, though?

Maybe Media Matters can do a story on it.

Dana Loesch is still harping on Gladney (and likely will never stop) and claiming that the "Liberals are violent," when it's the Conservatives doing these vile things.

And since the exact women of whom I speak couldn't bring themselves to repudiate the threats against my family, the Owens assault ...

. @JustinSnyderFL Prove racism. You are a typical sexist liberal male. Congrats for taking ur hand out of ur pants long enough to Tweet.

What a diva this woman is.

She (like rest of the STL Teabagger Hate Cabal) is also endorsing the dishonest Ed Martin in MO-03, Todd Akin in MO-02, and Roy Blunt in MO-Senate.

  • Paying Chris Loesch's business $5,000 while wife Dana Loesch attacked Martin's Republican primary opponent.
  • Hypocritically hiding from debates with John Wayne Tucker

Cheering on his supporters and campaigners booting and torching a photo of Russ Carnahan.

    http://stlactivisthub.blogspot.com/2010/09/st-louis-tea-party-endorsements.html

    A Recent tweet from @STLActivistHub:

It's excuse for Loesch to attack looks of women she disagrees with. For example, she has said that women in Emily's List have "hair lips."

    9.07.2010

Loesch tweets that "Union Thugs have ruined Labor Day," Rita calls her out.

There goes Dana Loesch bashing the Unions as usual, this time suggesting that "'Union Thugs' have ruined Labor Day."

Ah, spending the day remembering what labor used to be like before our working class was bossed around by thugs and co-opted by a party.
If that nonsense wasn't enough for STL Teabagger Ms. Loesch, She also falsely accused Adam Shriver of cyberstalking, libel, and Defamation.

@WUSTL Who to report a member of your staff cyberstalking, defaming, libeling ppl? Investigation whether use WashU resources to do so?
"Ed Martin will give Carnahan a run for his money. . .I like Ed," said St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay of Martin, who will duke it out with incumbent Cong. Russ Carnahan.
That's from Sunday's Berger's Beat. It's pretty surprising to see an elected Democrat speak so kindly of Ed Martin. Perhaps Mayor Slay will walk that back in a few days.
Actually, Slay pushed back against Berger's quote in a couple of tweets. First, he took issue with the quote being used out of context:

Second, he mentioned his own involvement in a fundraiser for Carnahan (not entirely clear whether he's hosting the fundraiser or just participating in it):

So anyway, yes, Slay is clearly "endosring" Russ Carnahan. I suppose one can ask just how much Slay supports Carnahan, but it's obviously a far different story than what Morley is presenting

Earlier in the year, I pointed out that Dana Loesch had been ignoring Ed Martin's Republican primary opponent John Wayne Tucker until finally going on an unprovoked, unhinged Twitter rampage against him. Throughout this whole ordeal, Loesch never once disclosed that her husband's business Shock City Studios had received $2,500 from Ed Martin, apparently for the production of a campaign video. The story was picked up by Chad Garrison at the RFT, and this caused the Loeschs to freak out.

But what I find very strange is that while Loesch was ranting about how clear she is about her ethics, and explaining how she'd never sell her soul for $2,500, she somehow forgot to mention that they actually received $5,000 from Ed Martin, not $2,500. That's right, the $2,500 check previously mentioned was just one of two checks. Shock City Studios received another $2,500 check from Ed Martin in November of 2009. Here are the two different sections of financial reports:
Finally, on the Second Hour of The Dana Show today, she had a discussion which Rita called in and refuted her Right-Wing anti-Islamic screed and better yet, caller Rita told Loesch: "You're an Idiot." She gets a ton of Cool Points, even though Dana will probably nominate her for Tool Of The Week.

At around the 22:40 mark of that hour, Rita's exchange with her starts there. At 28:22, the caller (who I agreed with) told the Teabagging Watercarrier "You're an Idiot! Goodbye."

ALERT: Russ Carnahan states that the man involved was ex-campaign worker

Looks like the STL Teabagger Noise Machine's out in full-on distortion mode and cranked up to 19.

Updated from earlier in the day: Russ Carnahan (D) says that the man linked to the firebombing was an ex-campaign worker. Jake Wagman of the Post-Dispatch/STLToday.com has this.

Rep. Carnahan: Man linked to office firebombing was ex-campaign worker

The campaign office of Rep. Russ Carnahan was firebombed early Tuesday morning, Aug. 17, 2010. Photo by Jake Wagman

ST. LOUIS -- U.S. Rep. Russ Carnahan has confirmed that the individual linked to a firebombing at his office was a former campaign worker.

The St. Louis Democrat said in a news conference Wednesday outside his campaign headquarters on Chippewa Street -- which, last week, was the target of an arson that caused minor damage -- that the man questioned by police in the incident had worked as a canvasser for his campaign.

The Aug. 17 fire began after an incendiary device was thrown into a room in the campaign office through a back window.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the one room -- which the campaign uses for its finance operation -- leaving a charred table and documents.

Russ Carnahan is seeking his fourth term in Congress. He is locked in a tough re-election contest with Republican Ed Martin, who previously condemned the arson attack.

Dana Loesch whining about "the media had better apologize" shit as usual:

    Carnahan Confirms Powers Firebomb Story

    August 25, 2010
    by DanaLoesch

Now that Carnahan has ended speculation, I expect to see a full apology from local “blogger” Chad Garrison apologizing to activists for the disparaging reporting as well as a full retraction for the falsehood that activists left a coffin in Carnahan’s yard during the spring, a story proven false by oh, facts and also Betsey Bruce’s reporting which showed, on camera, the coffin in the garage of one Bill Hennessy. I won’t hold my breath.

If anyone should give out retractions, it's you, Dana! But, sadly, that won't happen as Loesch will believe this lie till kingdom come and doesn't give ONE crap about the truth. I bet you the entire land of Warren County that Dana'll be screaming that "Democrats are violent people" card tomorrow on The Dana Show.

    http://thedanashow.wordpress.com/2010/08/25/carnahan-confirms-powers-firebomb-story/

Michelle Malkin (the vile scumbag who writes for the St. Louis Globe Democrat), via her blog, deceptively edited a blogpost to make it that the "Teabaggers are persecuted" meme fits in.

Michelle Malkin picks up on the story from the local tea party irresponsibly accusing someone of vandalism before the facts are out and falsely claiming that the media was "blaming the St. Louis tea party." I've already discussed much of this, so I'll just focus on her misleading edit.

    http://stlactivisthub.blogspot.com/2010/08/shocker-michelle-malkin-uses-edit-to.html

    The Daily RFT has this:

Carnahan Addresses Allegations Firebomb Suspect Worked for Re-Election Campaign

    russ_carnahan_foto.jpg
    Daily RFT
Carnahan: Says No. 1 priority is safety of his staff.
Correction to this story appears below.

Congressman Russ Carnahan held a press conference today to address allegations that the suspect of last week's firebombing of his campaign headquarters worked for his re-election campaign.

"Law authorities have done thorough interviews," said Carnahan, who added that he's been reticent to talk about the issue out of concern of "hindering" the police investigation. "The fact is that no one has yet been charged with a crime."

The blog Gateway Pundit today reported that Powers was upset that he hadn't been paid for his campaign work. Carnahan, however, denied that claim.
Correction: This story originally indicated that Carnahan confirmed the firebombing suspect worked for his campaign. That's not accurate. Carnahan confirmed that Powers once worked for his campaign but did not confirm that he was actually a police subject in the case.

    http://blogs.riverfronttimes.com/dailyrft/2010/08/carnahan_suspect_in_fireboming_worked_for_election_campaign.php

Jimi971, Dana Loesch's BFF, had this crazy tweet:

Hey @chadgarrison @stlactivisthub Sorry, but your Tea Party sucker punch missed by a mile... http://bit.ly/cpV2e8

Well, Jimi971, Chad Garrison and Adam Shriver have been telling the truth throughout this story. Dana and her cronies have been fibbing.

    -------------------------

I at first thought it was done by some Teabagger aided by Dana Loesch's rants. But it's not the case here. But since Chris Powers was NOT an actual subject in this, he remains innocent. However, the local Teabagger Noise Cabal, led by Hoft, Hennessy, and Loesch (Ultimate Satan)-- the 3 Devils of St. Louis-- are all out wanting him guilty.

Dana Loesch, Jim Hoft, Sharp Elbows falsely claim that Chris Powers (the firebomber) is a "Democrat Operative"

The STL Teabagger noise machine, led by Jim Hoft, Dana Loesch, Sharp Elbows, etc..., ere falsely claiming that Chris Powers, the person who was behind the firebombing, was a "Democrat Operative."

First from race-baiter Jim Hoft, who is a habitual distortion artist:

Posted by Jim Hoft on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, 8:48 AM

Last Tuesday August 17, 2010, Rep. Russ Carnahan’s office was reportedly vandalized and “firebombed” at 2 AM in the morning. Hours later police arrested a suspect for the crime and held him for several hours.

Of course, when the “firebombing” was reported local leftists blamed the tea party activists.

Dem operative and firebomber Chris Powers is the sweaty one pictured here on right during a rally for nationalized health care. Powers is was a paid canvasser for Russ Carnahan.

Powers is a man on the edge, who has suffered a lot of personal trauma in the recent past. Powers, a radical leftist, is accused of a pretty serious crime in what could only be considered a desperate cry for help.

    http://gatewaypundit.firstthings.com/2010/08/vandal-who-firebombed-carnahans-office-identified-hes-a-dem-operative-disgruntled-employee/

So, Jim Hoft is lying about Chris Powers being a Democrat Operative. It's YOUR fault, Gateway Pundit, for allowing it to happen.

Next, Missouri's #1 Villain, Dana Loesch, baselessly posts this screed by calling the firebomber a "Democrat Plant."

*UPDATE: Carnahan “Firebombing” an Inside Job?

Did the Carnahan camp know this possible truth and consent by silence to the media’s attempt to trump this up as a tea party incident? If this is true, doesn’t this make the fourth incident in which people associated with the Carnahan campaign have run afoul of the law and have engaged in illegal behavior? Why didn’t the Russ Carnahan campaign correct the narrative of the local alternative weekly and Jake Wagman’s subtle suggestion that it was a tea partier? Because he’s in the campaign of his life and is desperate for anything, even the sympathy vote?

The alternative weekly’s (RFT) heinously irresponsible “blogger” – who once admitted, in print, his inability to vet his posts because he lacked the skills to write ten posts a day and be accurate – and the daily’s Jake Wagman need to issue retractions and clarifications, respectively, and the Russ Carnahan campaign needs to issue an apology for allowing this charade to be pinned on the very people whom he seeks to represent.

    http://thedanashow.wordpress.com/2010/08/25/carnahan-firebombing-an-inside-job/

from @DLoesch: The irresponsible "journalists" who are hard up to pin this crap on the tea party can save their last bit of credibility by apologizing now.

My rebuttal: @DLoesch: No, it was YOUR fault that the firebomber was allowed to do what he wanted to. YOU are an enabler of violence, Dana!

Wow, this woman is a fraud, plain and simple. I heard there's a room in Hell for you, right next door to Brian Nieves, Ms. Liaresch!

So, Dana's fibbing out of both sides of her mouth on this. She's claiming that Russ Carnahan was somehow culpable for this, when we all know that she's the one responsible for the incident.
Also, she's playing the "Blame the Union Thugs/SEIU Thugs Card" again... this time with the Dollar Tree allegedly hiring out-of-state non-union workers. Loesch will still NOT drop the "Union Thugs beat up Gladney" nonsense, and likely won't.

Finally, the distorting buttmunch Adam Sharp aka SharpElbows.com. says this:

Guy Who FireBombed Carnahan Office Is A DEMOCRAT OPERATIVE!

I asked Russ about this very guy (Chris Powers) last night...he declined to comment.

So, SharpElbows has a doctored video regarding Carnahan being asked about the firebomber. He has had a history of doctored videotapes, just like Bob McCarty.

Now, the real facts, not the spin put out by the STL Teabaggers:

Kinder Inexplicably Tries To Score Political Points On Apparent Arson

Peter Kinder saw St. Louis Tea Party bloggers getting excited about who might be behind the apparent arsonat Russ Carnahan's campaign office, and decided that the most responsible course of action would be for him to join in. As far as I know, charges have not been filed by the local prosecutor's office, but Kinder didn't let that stop him from signing his initials -- and #FiredPelosi hashtag -- to "Guy Who FireBombed Carnahan Office Is A DEMOCRAT OPERATIVE!"

    http://www.firedupmissouri.com/content/kinder-hoping-score-political-points-apparent-arson

Fired Up! Missouri calls out Peter Kinder for using the firebombing to score cheap political touchdowns for his bastard Repuke buddies in Jeff City. He is just like any other Republican, a low-life scum who's worried more about winning elections than giving a damn about the Missouri people.

UPDATE: Adam Shriver's STL Activist Hub just put this up about 15 minutes ago.

Tea Partiers Claiming That "Democratic Operative" Bombed Carnahan's Office

Jim Hoft, Dana Loesch, and others are claiming, based on Jim Hoft's "insider information," that the person arrested for trying to set fire to Russ Carnahan's office was a liberal blogger with ties to the Democratic Party. They are also falsely claiming that local reporters "blamed" the tea party for the initial attack, and are hilariously demanding retractions and apologies. Amazingly, Loesch is also claiming that the Carnahan campaign needs to apologize for having their office firebombed. Here are the relevant bits:

So, a little context. First of all, no credible media outlet has reported the information about who the suspect is: only Jim Hoft. Hoft also claimed last week that he had "inside information" that it was a burglary, which was false. Second, even if Hoft's information is true, the information was really only about a suspect. Recall that the person who was originally picked up by police was released because of a lack of evidence that he did anything. In other words, as far as any responsible agency or entity knows, there is no credible evidence who did it yet.

Loesch and Hoft hilariously claim that Jake Wagman and Chad Garrison should apologize for accusing the tea party of setting of the firebomb. Unfortunately for them, neither Wagman nor Garrison did anything of the sort. Unlike the St. Louis tea party, they did not actually accuse people of committing a crime before the evidence was in. Here's what Garrison said:
Perhaps, he joined his fellow "patriots" earlier this year when they burned Carnahan's photo in effigy or placed a coffin on the sidewalk outside his home. On second thought, maybe he's not a Tea Party member. Firebombing your opponent's office seems a little too, um, sane for that group.

Dana Loesch complains about the prosecutor let go, Mark Schnyder of KMOV falsely peddles Loesch's talking points

Adam Shriver of STL Activist Hub reports that KMOV's Mark Schnyder was falsely peddling Dana Loesch's talking points about the Carnahan's firebombing.

    KMOV Is Confused

Mark Schnyder at KMOV is extremely confused. He can't seem to figure out how Congressman Carnahan feels about having his office firebombed. Schnyder wrote that he shockingly got "weird vibes" from Carnahan's staff the day after someone tried to burn their office down:
When I went by the building this morning I got a weird vibe. I saw a campaign worker coming out of the back of the office with big Bread Company to-go bags. I jokingly said, "Are you with Bread Company or the Carnahan campaign?" He said, "Bread Company," then tossed the bags in the dumpster and went to the front of the building, presumably back in the office. Weird.
(I talked to a reporter at another station who worked on this story who told me when she was there, she met a campaign worker outside the building who also denied being associated with the campaign. When she went inside to talk to a spokesperson, she saw that person who denied being with the campaign IN Carnahan's office.)
OK, so someone acted "weird," the day after arson was attempted. Big deal. And as for his story from "a reporter at another station," I sincerely hope he's not basing his claim that she was speaking to "a campaign worker" only on the fact that they saw the person inside the building later. There are millions of possible explanations for why someone who doesn't work for the campaign could be in the office.

This story is already fueling conspiracies by the usual wingnuts. Jim Durbin wrote that Carnahan's staff, "did take out a bunch of documents hidden in St Louis Bread Company bags to the dumpster. " Durbin also curiously sent someone over to take photos of the office to take photos. Hmmm, wonder if they were planning on doing any dumpster diving while they were there? Keep in mind that Durbin is the conspiracy theorist who claimed that ACORN is housed in Carnahan's office, a theory still believed by the tea party's other "expert" on this case, Jim Hoft. Yesterday, Hoft said that "inside sources" told him that it was a burglary. Later, his "inside sources" completely changed their story to arson, naturally without any explanation or correction from Hoft. Nice that Schynder is so willingly adding fuel to the conspiracy theorists' fire.

But Schnyder's later comments were even more strange:
Meantime, opponent Ed Martin wasted no time condemning the action on his campaign website. He agreed to an interview outside his headquarters, too...He says there are lots of things to disagree on as far as the campaigns are concerned, but he says there's no place for violence.
Weird how the Carnahan campaign couldn't or wouldn't put similar words together.
Huh? As one commenter put it:
What kind of "comment" were you looking for, anyway? "Well, it sucks that someone tried to burn our office down, and violence is wrong"? Duh!
Yup, it's pretty obvious to thinking humans that Carnahan and his staff are not happy about having someone try to burn down their campaign office. They did issue a statement after the event happened, and it's not clear what else Schynder expects from them. Does he want them to rush to judgment, like the tea party no doubt would, and start publicly blaming people even though the police investigation has thus far not been conclusive? Does he want them to cry on camera and say how scared they are for their lives, thus giving the arsonist satisfaction? Their office was firebombed. They feel like crap. Give them a break, dude.

    http://stlactivisthub.blogspot.com/2010/08/kmov-is-confused.html

Then there is Dana Loesch making up her phony claims out of thin air about the prosecutor lets the firebombing suspect go.

Prosecutor Lets Carnahan Firebomb Suspect Go?

    August 19, 2010
    by DanaLoesch

    Um, dude?

Police have released a man taken into custody Tuesday in connection with a firebombing at the campaign office of U.S. Rep. Russ Carnahan.

The man, whose name was not made public, was let go after the prosecutor’s office declined to immediately issue charges. The case was “taken under advisement” by the prosecutor, a step that can mean more evidence is needed before a case can be made.

Does reporter Jake Wagman know what a “firebomb” is? From what I’ve seen of the carefully controlled photos in circulation, this looks nothing like the damage caused by such incendiary devices.

    Jim Hoft has more.

Then there’s this report from KMOV Channel 4 reporter Mark Schnyder:

Russ Carnahan may be a bad congressman, but he’s our bad congressman and if someone is bombing offices of elected officials in St. Louis then I want to see a federal investigation and that person shipped off to jail. No joke. In fact, I think an investigation is warranted considering it’s a FEDERAL OFFENSE to do such a thing to the office of an elected official.

    http://thedanashow.wordpress.com/2010/08/19/prosecutor-lets-carnahan-firebomb-suspect-go/

Then, Daily RFT's Chad Garrison, a truthful man, has this:

Man Arrested for Firebombing Russ Carnahan's Campaign Office

    Categories: Crime, Politics
    carnahan_office_fire.jpg
    Source: Carnahan Campaign
The firebombing left some papers charred but created no major damage.
St. Louis police have arrested a 50-year-old white man in connection to the bizarre firebombing early yesterday of Congressman Russ Carnahan's campaign headquarters.

The incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. Tuesday. St. Louis police received a call moments later from someone who heard glass break and smelled smoke emanating from the building at 7000 S. Chippewa.

Police aren't releasing the man's name until charges are officially filed. No motive was given for the attack, though one could suspect that the perpetrator is not a fan of the congressman. Given what we know of him -- 50, white, angry -- he certainly fits the demographics of a Tea Party member.

Angela Guyadeen, communications director for Carnahan's re-election campaign, issued a statement confirming yesterday's incident. "There is minor damage to the office and the campaign headquarters
remains open," said Guyadeen. "The St. Louis police and fire departments are
    investigating."

Then here is KMOV's Mark Schnyder's take on this:

    Campaigns react to Carnahan fire

    Updated yesterday at 12:34 PM

I went to talk to people from both Congressional campaigns about Tuesday morning's fire in Russ Carnahan's office. Someone broke a window and tossed a burning object inside catching some of the office on fire but doing minimal damage to the building.

Hours later a company installed security cameras in the front and back of that building.

Then when I talked to a campaign spokesperson she refused to comment on anything beyond what police already told us. I tried to ask "What do you make of this?"... "How are workers and volunteers inside dealing with the fact their office was attacked?"... but Angela Guyadeen would have none of it. She wouldn't even tell me why she wouldn't answer these simple questions.

Meantime, opponent Ed Martin wasted no time condemning the action on his campaign website. He agreed to an interview outside his headquarters, too. He told me his campaign workers are careful. They're off busy Hampton Avenue where he says people drive by yelling nice things and not so nice things sometimes. He's had his big sign hit by a Dairy Queen Blizzard, but other than that nothing headline-grabbing like a burning object being tossed inside.

He says there are lots of things to disagree on as far as the campaigns are concerned, but he says there's no place for violence.

Weird how the Carnahan campaign couldn't or wouldn't put similar words together.

It looks like KMOV's pandering to the teabaggers more and more.

Dana Loesch caught lying about Russ Carnahan's campaign HQ arson

Some St. Louis Teabagger figures (most notably Dana Loesch) have falsely implied that Carnahan supporters caused the arson. Even Ed Martin, the Republican/Teabagger challenger to Russ, condemned it.

Rep. Russ Carnahan reports that his campaign office was firebombed and a suspect is in custody. Uncool.

    http://thedanashow.wordpress.com/2010/08/18/carnahan-office-firebombed-and-daily-misrepresents-august-09-incident/
Of course, the full article has Loesch spinning it into the tired old "Kenneth Gladney got beaten by Union Thugs" meme.

Carnahan is weathering a tumultuous political environment. A year ago, several people were arrested at a Carnahan town hall forum after a fracas broke out between protesters and Carnahan supporters.

No. Protesters were harassed by people who identified themselves as Carnahan volunteers and people not even of the 3rd district, OFA bussed people in who were loud and disruptive at the meeting (I know, because they assumed me and the veteran who attended the townhall with me were with OFA and snuck us through the side door), and Carnahan supporters attacked a man they profiled as being a conservative. I and others have endless video and photographic footage of the evening. The “fracas” came from Carnahan supporters and there isn’t a police report or eyewitness that has stated otherwise. To report otherwise is disingenuous and the omission of the above implies that those targeted at the townhall contributed to the “fracas” and whether Wagman intended it or not, further implies that the “fracas” could be linked to the firebombing and that the perpetrator could be a tea partier. Also not cool."

Well, Mr Patch W, Adams of P/Oed Patriot (via an article from Dana Loesch) is lying his ass off with the claim that "OFA bused in people to disrupt townhalls when a conservative speaks."

Now, the REAL news on this:

ST. LOUIS • Police have arrested a 50-year-old man in connection to what appears to be a firebombing that caused minor damage at the campaign headquarters of U.S. Rep. Russ Carnahan, D-St. Louis.

Firefighters responded after witnesses called about hearing broken glass and later smelling smoke at the office in the 7000 block of Chippewa Street in St. Louis.

At the office, it later appeared as if someone had thrown a burning object through a window.

The incident took place around 2:20 a.m. Tuesday and is being investigated as an arson by the Police Department's bomb and arson squad.

Police have not released the name of the suspect pending the application of warrants. They also did not release a potential motive.

The Carnahan campaign issued a brief statement confirming the incident and minor damage. On Tuesday evening, the room still smelled of smoke with charred campaign papers on a table.

The building is marked with Carnahan campaign signs. Carnahan, first elected in 2004, is locked in a tough election battle with Republican Ed Martin.

Although the congressional seat had been considered reliably Democratic — it was held for many years by former U.S. Rep. Richard Gephardt — Carnahan is facing a tough challenge this year. Martin has kept pace on fundraising, and he has criticized Carnahan on a range of issues.

Apart from Martin, Carnahan is weathering a tumultuous political environment. A year ago, several people were arrested at a Carnahan town hall forum after a fracas broke out between protesters and Carnahan supporters.

Adam Shriver of St. Louis Activist Hub has this take late last night:

Rep. Carnahan's Office Broken Into and Torched

News outlets are reporting that Congressman Russ Carnahan's campaign office was broken into at 2 AM this morning and a small fire was set. A man is in custody but so far no details are known as to his motives. I have to say, though, that if, and so far it is a big if , the man in custody is a right-wing activist, no responsible reporting on the matter would ignore the following facts:

  • In late March, the tea party held a rally where they burned a photo of Russ Carnahan outside of his Manchester office. Dana Loesch can be heard in the video saying, "This is how a fire smells when it's burning Tyranny."
  • At that same rally, they (1) used shoes to whack a picture of Russ Carnahan, (2) kicked the photo of Carnahan, (3) set up a game where people would throw boots at a picture of Carnahan, (4) and even encouraged small children to throw the boot at Carnahan.
  • Ed Martin's campaigners directly participated in these actions and Martin spoke approvingly of the rallies, posting links directly to videos of Carnahan's picture getting booted and burned.
  • Gateway Pundit titled his post about the event Hundreds Rally as Russ Carnahan is '"booted" and "torched."
  • At the rally, they used a photo of Carnahan with blood dripping from his mouth:

  • In the week prior to the event, Bill Hennessy wrote a blog post claiming that the tea party no longer had any moral or legal obligations to the government.
  • After the event, Hennessy tweeted openly about "revolution:"

  • The day after that rally, the tea party carried a coffin to Russ Carnahan's HOME, as in his private residence:

I agree with Adam Shriver on this. But I presume all the violence against Russ Carnahan is partly egged on by Dana Loesch, KFTK, and the STL Tea Party. Somebody over at Emmis needs to rein in Dana before her vile rhetoric gets more people hurt and/or killed, buildings destroyed, set on fire, or whatnot. I bet it will get worse as the November Midterms get closer.

Updated: Corrected the title from Robin to Russ Carnahan.

-- Update 2: As expected, Dana Loesch was whining about it with her latest tweet, falsely suggesting that "Adam Shriver posts libel on University time and on its computers."
Curious whether wash u employees who post defamatory and dangerous libel abt private citizens do so on university property during work hrs.

Chris Loesch Because they are cowards and know that this kind of kooky behavior is always perpetrated by liberals. This was obviously an inside job to make the Tea Party look bad.

Well, Chris, I have some news for you: The "kooky behavior" is perpetuated by Right-Wing assmunches like you.
