Anti-LGBTQ sourpuss Dana Loesch smears STL City Alderman Shane Cohn over LGBT Pride light displays

Rabid homophobic foe of LGBTQ rights Dana Loesch does what she does best: complain and whine. And this time, it's directed at Shane Cohn (@shanecohn on Twitter), a St. Louis City Alderman representing the 25th Ward, for spending money on using rainbow lighting for the St. Louis PrideFest this weekend and the victory of DOMA's overturning by SCOTUS.

The RedState contributor wrote wrote lies about the lighting for PrideFest:

St. Louis celebrated the defeat of DOMA and Prop 8 with lights:
The Civil Courts Building has been showing off rainbow LED lighting most of this week.  Soldiers Memorial will switch over to the colors this weekend for St. Louis Pride Fest, which has moved to downtown.
Ward 25 Alderman Shane Cohn secured $15,000 in capital improvement money for the lights.  Cohn said a company matched that amount.
Where did Cohn get that $15,000 in “capital improvement money?”

So are Christians, like myself, who are also city residents.
My city is struggling with crime and an alderman takes taxpayer money to use as a political statement in a ward that’s not even his? And to additionally make the memorial for our soldiers part of the display? We’re struggling financially and with a crime wave and we can appropriate tax dollars for this?

You, ma'am, are a fucking windbag, Dana! And as Cohn properly points out, LGBTQ people are also taxpayers and citizens, something bigoted assholes like Loesch doesn't get.

Her smears of Alderman Cohn and Mayor Francis Slay on Twitter:

Dana, you are BOTH anti-gay and sexist at the same time.

Typical from Loesch and Hoft: She falsely accuses Dr. Flood of "ceding US sovereignty to the UN"

Three of St. Louis' leading teabagger pro-2nd Amendment fetishists-- Dana Loesch, Chris Loesch, and Jim Hoft-- used today's gun safety rally in Downtown St. Louis City at Kiener Plaza to smear Mayor Francis Slay and promoted baseless United Nations-related conspiracy theories, such as falsely accusing speaker Dr. Robert Flood of "ceding United States sovereignty to the United Nations."

Earlier today a bunch of well-heeled progressive women from the nice, safe part of Missouri rolled into crime-ridden St. Louis city to condescend to city residents and hold signs proclaiming “Moms Demand Action! For Gun Sense In America!” Because what mom doesn’t demand action for things, gun sense especially? These moms aren’t like those pro-Second Amendment moms, who apparently do not demand gun sense, whatever that’s supposed to mean.

St. Louis City Mayor Francis Slay stood onstage behind speaker Dr. Robert Flood, who remarked how the United States should cede sovereignty to the United Nations because they can deal better with gun crime. You know, the United Nations that has has as members of its security council top-rated countries like Rwanda and Pakistan who are famous for citizens’ safety.

I was a bit surprised by this; as Democrats go, Slay is perceived as a moderate. He’s never glommed onto the incendiary rhetoric his party has used or insulted the tea party. While his office did give some preferential treatment to the Occupy movement, he also cracked down on them shortly thereafter and threw them out of the park in which they were squatting. Mass arrests occurred and the Occupiers responded by defacing a city employee’s house and landmarks around the city. Personally, I’ve always had a friendly relationship with members of Slay’s staff which again, is why I am surprised that he attended this rally. It was anything but a non-partisan rally. Slay’s people are always careful to keep him from very polarizing events but in this case, they failed.

Other failures of this rally: only around 150 people from around the area attended. Also, after hearing about class warfare and “one percenters” for a year, I found it hysterical to see that the rally seemed to only attract the most well-heeled limousine liberals. ” I wouldn’t expect these women to understand the realities of city life or the need for us city residents to protect ourselves.
Loesch does not know a damn thing about guns (other than rehashing her horseshit NRA talking points) if it bit her on the ass. She also called the pro-gun safety advocates "condescending."

She further denounced the pro-gun safety protestors on Twitter and insulted [left-leaning] suburban (read: STL County) women:

She smeared the protestors as "bussed-in from the County progressives." I bet you if the protestors being bussed in supported Dana's viewpoint, she would cheer it.

Your 2nd Amendment rights are NOT being eroded by these new gun safety proposals, Dana!

Actually, the people who live in gated subdivisions usually tend to be politically conservative, NOT liberal.

You are a deranged douchebag, Dana!

WRONGO, Dana! That's a blatant generalization.

Her husband, Chris, also took to Twitter and piled on to the distortions:

He repeated the "more people killed by hammers" lie.

He also an anti-choice zealot, just like his wife Dana.

Not necessarily related to today's gun safety event, but this tweet by him is so off the charts stupid that I have decided to call it our here:
He repeated another PPACA-related lie, this time being about "Obamacare will outlaw extreme sports".

Dr. Robert Flood, director of pediatric emergency at SLU, gave the keynote speech at the end of the rally. The good doctor urged supporters to call congress and turn your rights and sovereignty over to United Nations by supporting the Child Rights Act.

Hoft even took a cheap shot by repeating the far-right talking points equating the support of the Convention on the Rights of the Child Act was an "attempt to take away your rights and the nation's sovereignty over to the United Nations."

ST. LOUIS • The city of St. Louis is “armed to the hilt,” and must change that to prevent violence such as the crossfire shooting of a 4-year-old girl last week, Mayor Francis Slay told a crowd of gun-control advocates Saturday.
Slay and other speakers called for assault weapons bans, universal background checks and other reforms in the wake of the massacre of 20 children and six educators by a gunman at a school in Newtown, Conn., in December.
“I’m here because our streets of St. Louis are awash with guns,” Slay told the crowd. He noted that he was one of about 850 mayors nationally calling for stricter gun laws, with the focus on requiring universal background checks. Current federal law allows gun sales from unlicensed sellers with no such checks.
Steve Marx of St. Louis disagreed. He was one of about a dozen activists who stood at the edge of the rally holding up signs touting gun rights. Marx’s sign read, “Guns save lives.”
“They’re exploiting a tragedy committed by a madman. My rights are not what’s wrong,” Marx said. He said calls for universal background checks was an attempt by government at “total control” over gun owners.
The gun-control rally was organized by a local chapter of the group Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. It included Clayton Mayor Linda Goldstein, University City Mayor Shelley Welsch and St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson.
Organizers noted that Missouri’s two U.S. senators, Republican Roy Blunt and Democrat Claire McCaskill, had been invited to the rally but didn’t attend.
The national push toward sweeping gun control that seemed inevitable in the days and weeks after the Newtown massacre has slowed, leading some proponents to accuse President Barack Obama of having missed the moment.

How Dana Loesch critiques St. Louis's Labor Day Parade: She demonizes unions and the OWS movement

Labor Day, a time where labor union groups celebrate their hard-workingness and widely considered the symbolic end of the Summer season, is a time to celebrate the labor movement in America.

Dana Loesch (like the rest of the RWNJs and the #TCOT Brigade), on the other hand, wants to use Labor Day as a way to scapegoat and trash on unions and even take cheap shots at the OWS movement.

Big Government:

Even though Labor Day was created to honor all workers, it seems St. Louis public sector workers believe that the holiday is theirs exclusively. The theme that St. Louis labor used for their Labor Day Parade was borrowed from the criminal Occupy movement: We are the 99%.
In reality, they are the 11% considering that just that small number of the workforce is unionized labor, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. But hey, math. You wouldn't know it watching them march through the streets; it seemed the goal of the parade was to attack private sector workers. It was a blatantly political event, with support for Democrat candidates evident throughout the parade and parade-goer signs repeating the "you didn't build that" refrain which has cost President Obama support from small business owners.

I'm not sure why non-union private sector workers are demonized by big labor when they private sector is burdened with the responsibility of their own overhead plus the cost of the public sector. When union bosses like Trumka, Stern, and Hoffa Jr. support the policies of an administration that has caused 41 straight months of +8% unemployment and a devalued American dollar, it's difficult for the private sector to meet the demands placed upon them -- especially when they were deliberately excluded from having any say whatsoever in the negations. Union bosses and politicians game the system to foster resentment towards the private sector when they can't meet the demands made of them by the same bosses and politicians.
The Mayor has been very tolerant of the criminal Occupy movement in St. Louis, even after they vandalized numerous historic structures and even vandalized the homes of city employees as retribution for the city ending their hipster camping demonstration downtown.
Being in a union is patriotic, and being a teabagging liar is not.

Loesch falsely accuses OccupySTL of special treatment

The lying liar from St. Louis is back again, demonizing Occupy protestors as a "bunch of ACORN-funded thugs" in her blog over at Big Government.

For the past few weeks, a small group of rag-tag occupiers have set up a shanty town in Keiner Plaza, the site of many St. Louis Tea Party rallies. They have done so without a permit and without insurance — things the city demanded of the St. Louis Tea Party before they were allowed use of the space. Demonstrators plug their laptops and space heaters into the park’s power outlets. Should an accident occur, the lack of insurance will place the city on the hook for liability. Yesterday in an interview with Mayor Slay’s spokesman Jeff Rainford, I learned that the city isn’t exactly keen to bring the group into compliance with the law.

The cost for renting out Keiner Plaza isn’t cheap, though not as expensive as permits for usage of federal park space. A letter to my STLTP Co-Founder Bill Hennessy detailed a list of actionable and monetary requirements before the city would allow an August 4th, 2011 Tea Party event to take place:
Page two:

The city should have evicted the occupiers when the free permit was refused and city law broken. When the St. Louis Tea Party lost its insurance the night before the November 2009 protest, we had to scramble to replace it, or the city would have disallowed the demonstration. Rainford’s excuse for the city’s allowance for breaking the law was that the occupy group may not have beeen able to afford the permit, but they were able to afford a Cardinals World Series sign.

Rainford tried to make this about protecting free speech, so if it is, why then was the city less interested in the Tea Party’s free speech? Why did the city demand that the Tea Party pay for their free speech via permits and insurance while giving the occupiers a pass? Why did the city attempt to withhold the Tea Party’s right to free speech and peaceful assembly by revoking use of Keiner the night before a rally due to insurance? By Rainford’s logic, that would be the promotion of one group over another before the law, which itself is a violation of civil rights.

So the city is refusing to enforce the law because the self-described “peaceful” occupy group may act like domestic terrorists and riot and damage property? Isn’t that more reason to stop this now? The city makes itself a larger accessory the more this continues.
Typical lying nonsense from Dana Loesch regarding the Occupy movement.

Now the bigger question is why the hell did Slay's Chief of Staff Jeff Rainford go on KFTK's The Dana Show?

Adam Shriver at our sister blog, the St. Louis Activist Hub, has more:

First, Mayor Slay's Chief of Staff Jeff Rainford copied Dana Loesch's inflammatory rhetoric against OccupySTL, ridiculously claiming that the group was "unruly" and falsely suggesting that they were relieving themselves all over Kiener Plaza rather than in the port-o-potty's provided by local unions:
Jeff Rainford, Slay's chief of staff, said the camps are getting unruly, the plaza is beginning to smell like urine, and a few were recently arrested for public intoxication.
Then, Rainford mimicked Loesch again by seemingly suggesting that the OccupySTL group might want violence:
"All I'm trying to do is to keep this from becoming Oakland," he said. "I'm trying to get this solved with no violence."

Still, he said, he understood that the occupiers may not have the same plans
So I guess it really should be no surprise that Rainford decided to appear on Loesch's radio show today to explain why the city has decided they need to kick the Occupy group out of Kiener Plaza. After all, Loesch has been trying to portray the campers at Kiener as filthy, violent, parasite-infested, astroturf, drug-crazed, sexual deviants from the very beginning, so it makes perfect sense that Rainford would help provide validation to St. Louis's Queen of Hate Radio.

From the 11.07.2011 edition of KFTK's The Dana Show:

Loesch tweets that "Union Thugs have ruined Labor Day," Rita calls her out.

There goes Dana Loesch bashing the Unions as usual, this time suggesting that "'Union Thugs' have ruined Labor Day."

Ah, spending the day remembering what labor used to be like before our working class was bossed around by thugs and co-opted by a party.
If that nonsense wasn't enough for STL Teabagger Ms. Loesch, She also falsely accused Adam Shriver of cyberstalking, libel, and Defamation.

@WUSTL Who to report a member of your staff cyberstalking, defaming, libeling ppl? Investigation whether use WashU resources to do so?
"Ed Martin will give Carnahan a run for his money. . .I like Ed," said St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay of Martin, who will duke it out with incumbent Cong. Russ Carnahan.
That's from Sunday's Berger's Beat. It's pretty surprising to see an elected Democrat speak so kindly of Ed Martin. Perhaps Mayor Slay will walk that back in a few days.
Actually, Slay pushed back against Berger's quote in a couple of tweets. First, he took issue with the quote being used out of context:

Second, he mentioned his own involvement in a fundraiser for Carnahan (not entirely clear whether he's hosting the fundraiser or just participating in it):

So anyway, yes, Slay is clearly "endosring" Russ Carnahan. I suppose one can ask just how much Slay supports Carnahan, but it's obviously a far different story than what Morley is presenting

Earlier in the year, I pointed out that Dana Loesch had been ignoring Ed Martin's Republican primary opponent John Wayne Tucker until finally going on an unprovoked, unhinged Twitter rampage against him. Throughout this whole ordeal, Loesch never once disclosed that her husband's business Shock City Studios had received $2,500 from Ed Martin, apparently for the production of a campaign video. The story was picked up by Chad Garrison at the RFT, and this caused the Loeschs to freak out.

But what I find very strange is that while Loesch was ranting about how clear she is about her ethics, and explaining how she'd never sell her soul for $2,500, she somehow forgot to mention that they actually received $5,000 from Ed Martin, not $2,500. That's right, the $2,500 check previously mentioned was just one of two checks. Shock City Studios received another $2,500 check from Ed Martin in November of 2009. Here are the two different sections of financial reports:
Finally, on the Second Hour of The Dana Show today, she had a discussion which Rita called in and refuted her Right-Wing anti-Islamic screed and better yet, caller Rita told Loesch: "You're an Idiot." She gets a ton of Cool Points, even though Dana will probably nominate her for Tool Of The Week.

At around the 22:40 mark of that hour, Rita's exchange with her starts there. At 28:22, the caller (who I agreed with) told the Teabagging Watercarrier "You're an Idiot! Goodbye."
